Dr. Richard Chance, D.V.M.
Dr. Chance is a native of Richmond, VA. He received an undergraduate
degree from the University of North Carolina in Business. After serving as
an officer in the U.S. Army, he returned to North Carolina State and received
a degree in Animal Science. His veterinary training was at the College of
Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. After graduating from the
veterinary school in 1975, he joined Tolley Veterinary Hospital in Newport
News. In 1988 he became owner and changed the name to James River Veterinary
Hospital where he was Chief of Staff until October 2001. He then became the
Regional Manager for Healthy Pet Corporation in Stanford, CT. and managed
their Virginia practices. Dr. Chance has been married thirty-six years and
has three grown sons.His hobbies include golf and fishing.
His professional interests include soft tissue, orthopedic, and laser surgery, as well as internal medicine. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Bonnie Brown, D.V.M.
Dr.
Brown received her undergraduate education at Virginia Tech, then proceeded
to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg,
Virginia. After graduating with a DVM in 1989, Bonnie worked for two years
at the Peninsula Emergency Veterinary Clinic before joining Dr. Chance at
James River Veterinary Hospital in Newport News. In 2001, she joined Noah's
Ark Veterinary Hospital in Williamsburg to be closer to home and family.
Bonnie and Dr. Chance worked to plan and build Jolly Pond Veterinary Hospital,
which opened in December 2003. A Williamsburg resident since 1990, Bonnie
shares her home with her husband, Mike, a chemist for Ethyl Corporation in
Richmond, Virginia, daughter Rachael and son John. Her free time is spent
showing her French Lop rabbits, painting, traveling, and going to Virginia
Tech Hokie football games.
Dr. Brown's professional interests include soft tissue and laser surgery, internal medicine and feline and canine behavior as well as a special interest in rabbit medicine and surgery. Dr. Brown is member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, and is a preferred veterinarian at the House Rabbit Society web page.
